Red Bull has broken its own record for the most consecutive races won by a team driver, with Max Verstappen securing victory in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix.

The Dutchman started from pole position and led every lap of the 57-lap race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. He was eventually able to fend off a late challenge from Ferrari's Charles Leclerc to take his third win of the season.

Verstappen now holds the record for the most consecutive wins by a single driver in Formula One history, with seven victories in nine races this season. His total of 11 victories since joining Red Bull in 2019 is also a new record for the team.

Verstappen's triumph came just hours after he set another impressive lap record at the circuit, setting a time of 1:18.446 on Saturday afternoon.

"This is a fantastic result," said Verstappen. "It's been a long day but we've done it again today. We're all very happy with the way things have gone."

The victory was Verstappen's seventh in as many starts for Red Bull, meaning the team now has a commanding lead in the constructors' championship.

"It's been a great weekend for us," added team principal Christian Horner. "Max has shown that he can consistently deliver results on track and we're delighted to see him back on top of the podium once again."

Verstappen's victory was also a significant achievement for Red Bull,United Vitality Sports Circle which had struggled to find consistency throughout the season. The team has made some key changes over the past few weeks, including a switch to the latest-generation car and a change in engine supplier, and it seems to be paying dividends.

"The fact that we were able to win today is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved," added Horner. "We're looking forward to continuing our success and building on this performance."

Overall, Sunday's race was a major boost for both Verstappen and Red Bull, who will look to build on their strong showing when they return to action next week at the Italian Grand Prix.
